Welcome the New Year with a bang!
It’s out with the old, and in with the Oooooooh for everyone out and about in the city centre this New Year’s Eve, as we welcome 2013 with a midnight firework display launched from our iconic Town Hall.
We’ll be lighting up the sky on the stroke of midnight – and revelers are welcome to make their way to Albert Square from 11pm to join in the countdown and cheer in 2013.
It’s a ticket-free event, but entry to the square will be controlled to keep viewers safe.
For safety reasons, no personal fireworks, alcohol, glass or bottles will be allowed in the viewing site.
Road closures
These roads will be temporarily closed for safety during the display:
23:45 – 00:15 – Princess St (Junction of Cross St – Cooper St ) and Lloyd Street ( Cooper St-Albert Square)
23:30 – 00:30 – Junction of Mount St/Central St + Southmill/Albert Square
